PO-WEI CHEN

Po-Wei Chen is a Taiwan-based designer and the founder of Twenty Lifestyle, a design brand dedicated to furniture, lighting, and home accessories. He graduated from the MA Design (Furniture) program at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, where he developed a material-led and concept-driven approach to contemporary design. His practice is rooted in a strong sensitivity to aesthetics, proportion, and the purity of form, with a particular interest in discovering poetic qualities through materials, making processes, and craftsmanship.

Alongside his studio and brand practice, Chen places a strong emphasis on local sustainability issues, viewing design as a meaningful tool to respond to environmental, cultural, and social conditions. His work often begins with close observation of place, material resources, and local production systems, transforming these elements into refined contemporary objects and experiences. Through this approach, design becomes not only a process of creation, but also a method of research, translation, and connection.

Chen has also been actively invo

lved in government-supported regional revitalization initiatives, bringing design into local contexts and exploring how creative practice can engage with communities, industries, and place-based narratives. By working across product design, material research, and cross-disciplinary collaboration, his practice seeks to connect design with local development, cultural continuity, and sustainable futures. The result is a body of work that balances material honesty and visual refinement, while expressing a quiet, poetic sensibility shaped by process, place, and proportion.
